Curriculum Intent Statement

The aim at Wychwood CE School is to provide opportunities for children to develop as independent, confident, successful learners with high aspirations who know how to make a positive contribution to their community and the wider society.  There is a focus on developing children’s moral, spiritual, social and cultural understanding, through our Christian values of cooperation, empathy, aspiration, responsibility, resilience and friendship.  Wychwood CE Primary ensures that children are well prepared for life in modern Britain by aiming to provide a curriculum driven by our vision to shine as lights in the world.
Our curriculum development considers the unique circumstances we learn in.  We are a medium sized rural village school.  We serve a predominantly monocultural community, so the intent of our curriculum is to celebrate the natural beauty and uniqueness of our environment as well as provide a window on modern Britain and the rest of the world.  We see the relationship between a sizable vocabulary and academic success as vital and so at the heart of our curriculum is language enrichment.  Each subject area has required vocabulary that we expect children to learn, understand and use.

Children leave Wychwood with a strong sense of belonging to a community where they have confidence in themselves and the essential skills, knowledge and values equipping them for the next steps in their young lives.
