Great Fire of London!

Last term, KS1 learned all about the Great Fire of London in their history topic 'Would you want to be a firefighter in 1666?'

As a grand finale, we made a model of Pudding Lane in the hall and discussed the events of the fire and why this had such significance in history. We then took some of the model houses outside to burn them. This demonstrated how quickly a fire will spread and how the houses would turn completely to ash - even though we knew what would happen, it was very exciting to see! This was a good opportunity to recap fire safety with the children and we were impressed that some children wanted to discuss the environmental impact of our demonstration too.
