This term, the FSU children have been exploring the question 'how did the dinosaurs become extinct?'. We started off the term by learning the story 'We are going on a dinosaur hunt'. We followed this up by going on a real dinosaur hunt and to our surprise discovered bones and eggs in our garden! In our topic sessions, we have been using non-fiction books to learn about different dinosaur names, whether they were a herbivore or a carnivore and why they became extinct.
Later in the term, we had a special letter delivered from the Natural History Museum in London. The director of the museum asked us to practice our palaeontology skills on cookies to check we could be delicate and careful. We had a great time in the garden and tried hard to remove the chocolate chips without damaging the cookie. We then had a delivery of real fossils and got to use a range of tools to remove our fossils before identifying what the fossil was.
We have had a really fun term learning about dinosaurs - well done Foundation Stage children!
