The Governing Body of Wychwood C of E School welcome you to our school. We are a committed and passionate group, excited about our staff and pupils, and proud of who we are as a school community. We hope you enjoy visiting our website.

The governors are made up of staff, parents, community and church representatives, and work together across all aspects of school life. If you would like to talk to any of us, we would be very happy to hear from you.

Foundation Governors (nominated by the Diocesan Board)

Iain Russel-Jarvie

I have been a governor at the school for more than 4 years. I joined the School Governing Body as a Community Governor to help link the school with the local community. Now as a Foundation Governor I am appointed by the Diocese to represent the Church. I have two grandsons in school and take a keen interest in school activities both in and out of the class. My particular interest is in Modern Foreign Languages and I like to attend classes during French lessons. I serve on the Finance Committee and Chair the Head Teacher Performance Management Committee.

Revd Geoffrey Clement

I have been a school governor for the last 17 years in 2 other rural schools, one with 120 children the other only 25. Over that time have seen many changes in the role of a school governor. What I enjoy most about being a governor is having an input in the formation of the children at the school. As a vicar I see my role in school (and the wider community) very much as being one of getting involved and joining in and being available to help out in any way I can.

Parent Governors

Ruth Seymour

I live in a nearby village with my husband and two daughters Martha and Molly who are both at Wychwood. I used to be a primary school teacher in London and have continued my career working in the education sector. I currently work for a special school and charity in Oxfordshire. I became a parent governor in September 2018 and I am particularly interested in whole school wellbeing and supporting children’s social and emotional learning needs. I am on the Curriculum, Pupil and Parent sub-committee and am the Special Educational Needs link Governor.

Daisy Pratt

I joined the board of Governors as a Parent Governor in June 2021. I have two children, Emily and Ethan at Wychwood School. As part of my role, I have the pleasure of being a member of the Curriculum, Pupils and Parent’s sub-committee, and really enjoy meeting with subject leads to learn about their dynamic plans for teaching across the school. Before coming to Wychwood School, I was Vice Chair of the committee at Ascott Preschool in Ascott-under-Wychwood. I am also actively involved within the PTA, which is a brilliant group of parents who organise wonderful events for the children, as well as the wider school community to help raise money for the school

Co-opted Governors

Mrs Jill Mavin

I have lived in Shipton over 35 years and two of my three children went to Wychwood Primary. I was a member of the PTA for about five years during that time.
I am Vice Chair of the Parish Council and provide a link between the school and the village which is very useful for dealing with local planning applications, road safety, parking issues and the like. As a board member of the Wychwood Wild Garden Trust I have been able to help with access to the Wild Garden for school and nursery children across the fields, so that they don't have to walk beside the busy road.
I'm a member of the PTA again and enjoy being involved in fund raising at the School Fair, Fireworks Night and other activities, alongside an amazing group of young mums and dads who, in spite of seriously busy lives, give their time to work for, and with, the school to improve the lot of our children.
As a member of the Finance, Premises and Personnel group I've learned a great deal about the function of our school and am constantly being impressed by the dedication of the Headteacher and all members of the teaching and support staff.
I've recently started to read with five year olds once a week in school and gain a great deal of pleasure from listening to and helping these little people get to grasps with words.

Mrs Danielle Wilden

I am a co-opted governor and sit on the Finance Premises and Personnel committee for the school. I have lived in the local area for over 20 years and have two children that attend the school so have an interest as a parent as well as links to the local community.
I work for a local company as a Commercial Building Surveyor and previously to this worked in a similar role for an educational charity so have some useful skills and experience that I can bring to the governing body in terms of managing the premises and the more operational side of the school.
I feel very strongly about ensuring that all children have access to an equal and balanced education irrespective of individual circumstances or needs. My aim in my role as a governor is to contribute towards a happy and healthy school environment which promotes a lifelong passion for learning.

Mr John Witts

John has been a Governor for over 4 years. He is married to Ali and has two (soon to be one) girls at the school. He is Pastor of the local Baptist Church which gives him flexibility to help as needed. He jointly chairs the FPP committee along with Iain Russel Jarvie, and is Lead Governor on the ‘Teaching & Learning’ priority of the School Development Plan.

Simon Duffy

"I live in Milton Under Wychwood and have had two children go through Wychwood Primary School. I have worked in education for thirty six years. My involvement has been mainly in the secondary education sector, starting as a geography teacher, then moving into different roles of school leadership, and then leading my own school as headteacher for over 13 years. I am passionate about education and now work as an independent educational consultant. In my spare time I walk, read, follow sport and love to ski when I can."
