Jack and the Beanstalk

Over the last two weeks the children in Foundation Stage have been engaging in learning opportunities based on the story of ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’.

The children were very excited to receive a large letter from a giant. The giant has been doing lots of unkind things such as stealing the lunch bands and taking the children’s learning journeys. The children have tried to find the giant by creating wanted posters. They also wrote to Wes the police officer who came to visit us on Thursday afternoon. The children helped Wes to investigate the crimes the giant has committed by looking for and writing down clues and evidence. This morning the children created a potion to help to get rid of giant … hopefully the giant will not be returning any time soon!

When talking about the giant the children said;

“He’s been squashing tomatoes and eating biscuits” - Bea
“He’s been tricking us. He left footprints and squashed food” – Alfie
“He took our learning journeys and lunch bands” – Magnus
“He was very mean and said that we are stinky. Now he’s been very kind and given us back our learning journeys” – Margaux
